This SIBO Breath Test home collection kit comes with Lactulose as a substrate.
SIBO is a disorder of excessive bacterial growth in the small intestine. As sugars and indigestible fibers pass by this overgrowth, the microbes ferment these foods, leading to a buildup of gas in the small intestine. Patients with bacterial overgrowth typically develop symptoms including nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, malnutrition, weight loss and malabsorption.
Functional Medicine Shop is proud to partner with Aerodiagnostics, who utilize QuinoTron breath tests to diagnosis SIBO as the underlying root cause of food intolerance, IBS symptoms and chronic gastrointestinal issues.
QuinTron’s products are #1 recommended breath test kit globally! With over 1 million breath samples collected and analyzed using QuinTron’s breath kits and analyzers, you can feel confident and trust the results of your tests.
QuinTron’s patented closed-system breath collection devices quickly and easily allow you to collect breath samples in the privacy and comfort of your home, or anywhere you feel best.
You kit will be delivered directly to you. Follow the easy pre-test preparation guidelines and begin collecting your breath samples. Once you have completed the breath collection, simply place the vials back into the protective packaging, affix the prepaid shipping label and send the box back to the facility for analysis. Once samples are received in house, each breath sample will be analyzed for levels of Hydrogen, Methane and Carbon Dioxide. Results are typically available within 48 hours of receipt.
After you receive the results from your breath test, you should discuss any potential treatments and additional lifestyle recommendations with your medical professional.
The major gases which are produced by bacteria include, primarily, carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen (H2), methane (CH4) and small concentrations of aromatic gases. Carbon dioxide is produced by all cells during metabolism, but only bacteria can produce H2 and CH4 as metabolic by-products, and this is accomplished primarily by bacteria which thrive in the absence of oxygen (called anaerobic bacteria). So, if either H2 or CH4 are produced biologically, it tells us that some food substance is exposed to bacterial fermentation.
Once samples are received by the lab, each breath sample will be analyzed for levels of Hydrogen, Methane and Carbon Dioxide. Results are typically available within 48 hours of receipt.
After you receive the results from your breath test, you should discuss any potential treatments and additional lifestyle recommendations with your medical professional.

Prepare Test Solution - DO NOT DRINK YET!!!
Mix the lactulose into 8-10 ounces of water.
Set drink aside, you will consume the solution after you collect your baseline sample.
Performing the Test (Collection Steps)
Collect your baseline sample following steps 1-4.
Hold the EasySampler device in one hand and a collection tube in the other hand. You will only exhale once per each sample collection. Take a normal (not deep) breath in; close your mouth around the mouthpiece then blow out normally.
Exhale once per each sample collection. As you exhale the bag fills with air. Keep it inflated. (There is a small hole in the bag, this is intentional).
During your exhalation, insert the test tube into the needle holder completely so the stopper on the tube is punctured.
Remove the test tube after 1-2 seconds. Keep the bag inflated until after the test tube is removed from the test tube holder.
Complete the tube label provided. Make certain you label the Sample # correctly or your results will be inconclusive.
Drink the entire test solution you prepared and then wait 20 minutes.
Collect one breath sample every 20 minutes until all test tubes are used.
Collect all samples following the Sample Chart and Collection Steps 1-4.
Put collection test tubes in the bubble bag(s). Place the bubble bag(s), any paperwork, and the EasySampler device back in the cardboard container, and return to the laboratory for analysis immediately.
Return the kit immediately for analysis.
Your breath sample is only stable for 14 days after collection.
